In 2010, the Royal Society of Victoria instigated and coordinated a range of projects to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Victorian Exploring Expedition, now better known as the Burke and Wills Expedition. These commemoration activities continued into 2011 and beyond, and some are still in progress.
This website was set up to advertise and promote the commemoration activities. Over time, it has become a record of all the events that have taken place. You can find these on the Events page, together with details of the occasional events still to come. On the Products page, you can find out about some of the lasting outcomes of the commemoration project. If you don’t know much about Burke and Wills, there is a brief history on the Expedition page. Media and Explore pages list links to news items and other relevant sites.
